About:

Fred utilizes systems thinking to diagnose challenges and co-create interventions to increase business performance. He is adept at both individual coaching and supporting executive teams to reach peak performance. His approach is informed by over 30 years of international Human Resources experience, living and working in the US, Europe, and Asia while supporting a broad array of industries including high tech, pharma, and bio-tech. He leverages his experience navigating various cultures to bridge differences with curiosity and empathy. Some of his proudest achievements are creating pragmatic programs to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion, leveraging the energy of the whole company. He is a skilled facilitator and trainer of leadership, change management, and communication. His most recent roles include VP of People for 23andMe, helping people access, understand, and benefit from the human genome, and VP of People for Grail, a biotech company detecting cancer early when it can be cured. In these roles, he led human capital strategies and implementation during very dynamic times. Both of these companies were high growth start-ups ending in positive exits: a public offering and an acquisition by Illumina, respectively. He has also worked with leadership teams world-wide at a number of premium employee-driven companies including: Autodesk, Juniper Networks, Genentech, and Roche developing internal cultures that increase retention and engagement. Fred earned an MBA at the University of California at Berkeley, and a BA at Bucknell University in English and Economics. He is a certified coach from the Coaching Training Institute. Fred lives with his two children and wife in the Bay Area where he enjoys skiing, hiking, and triathlons.
