Biography

David brings over thirty years’ experience in business, helping organizations with global operations and aspirations to build inclusive teams. . David is an unapologetic advocate for responsible globalization. He believes that increasing respectful and inclusive communication and interconnectivity across boundaries of all kinds is the best path for building stable, peaceful, and sustainable communities. David has spent his career working in international contexts, especially emerging markets with multicultural teams and multinational organizations. He specializes in working with executives with complex international roles, helping to build inclusive leadership teams. He is an experienced speaker, executive team facilitator and executive coach. David focuses on three areas:

  • Inclusive Global Leadership Development: for individuals and teams of executives
  • High Potential Global Leadership Development: assessment and development of Next Generation leaders, especially in emerging markets
  • Talent Pipeline Development: consulting and programmatic development to help organizations build a talent community able to support future global growth

He holds multiple certifications for diagnostic assessment tools including the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), the Kozai Group’s Global Competency Inventory (GCI), and Hogan. David holds an M.A. in East Asian studies from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in History from Cornell University. He speaks advanced conversational Japanese. David currently resides in London, UK.

  • Senior Partner and Managing Director of Korn Ferry’s Asia-Pacific Talent Advisory Practice and Global Enterprise Learning business. David led the establishment of a new talent business in Asia from a base in Shanghai. He later managed the integration of a strategic acquisition into Korn Ferry and was Managing Director of a new global Enterprise Learning line of business.
  • President of Aperian Global. David served as President of this San Francisco-based global intercultural learning solutions firm. He managed a team of 70 direct employees and 200 associates with offices in the U.S., Europe, India, Singapore, China, and Japan.
  • Senior Vice President of International Leadership & Talent Consulting for Mannaz A/S. David managed this Danish firm’s leadership development consulting business from a base in London and teams in Europe and Asia. He was a catalyst in moving services into blended digital delivery.
